Job Summary

The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for Team Performance, Cohesion, and Organizational Resilience. Beyond technical oversight, this role designs manpower allocation to ensure flexibility, allowing team members to cover for each other to maintain work-life balance without compromising deliverables. The Supervisor adds context to technical plans — integrating logistics, schedules, and risk management — and serves as the primary author of Technical Procedures, ensuring the organization's knowledge base is documented, scalable, and robust.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

1. Organizational Resilience & Resource Management

  • Designing Flexibility. Assigns and transfers work with the explicit goal of preventing organizational fragility. Designs manpower schedules so that the team can cover for each other during absences, ensuring continuous operation and protecting the work-life balance of the staff.
  • Participates as Lead Engineer. Steps into the role of Lead Engineer as needed, working directly on technical execution to cover critical gaps, handle complex implementations, or maintain operations during manpower shortages.
  • Team Cohesion. Fosters a culture where roles are interoperable. Ensures that knowledge is not siloed in one individual, but shared, allowing the team to absorb shocks without service failure.
  • Authority & Assignment. Exercises authority to allocate resources and delegate tasks based on current team capacity and individual development needs.

2. Contextual Planning, Coordination & Objectives

  • Technical Coordination & Order of Operation. Acts as the final arbiter in coordinating different technical fields (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical). Determines the correct Order of Operation to prevent conflicts. Resolves technical clashes between disciplines before execution begins.
  • Adding Context to Design. Reviews technical requirements and solutions created by staff and integrates management context: logistics, deployment schedules, budget constraints, and human resource availability.
  • Risk Management. Identifies risks that purely technical staff may miss (supply chain delays, manpower fatigue, site access issues) and incorporates mitigation strategies into the project plan.
  • Meeting Objectives. Responsible for the ultimate delivery of project objectives. Ensures that the technical solution is not just accurate, but executable within business constraints.

3. Knowledge Management (The "First Drafter" Role)

  • Procedure Creation. Acts as the first drafter of Technical Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Manuals. Converts tacit knowledge into documented organizational assets.
  • Knowledge Base Maintenance. Continuously updates the technical knowledge base. Identifies gaps where the team lacks information or tools and formally requests the necessary resources to fill these gaps.
  • Standardization. Ensures that best practices discovered by staff are codified into official standards for the department.

4. Performance Monitoring & Metrics

  • Measuring Output. Uses current processes, systems, and tools to gather performance metrics. Evaluates the team on efficiency, adherence to process, and safety — not just technical output.
  • Validation. Acts as the validator for the "Check" phase of the staff. Verifies that data collected by staff regarding implementation is accurate and actionable.

5. Innovation Review & Escalation

  • Reviewing Recommendations. Filters and reviews process improvement recommendations from staff. Validates whether a proposed innovation is viable and safe.
  • Escalation Logic. Recognizes limits of authority or information. Escalates issues to Senior Management when: the problem's complexity exceeds current available information; the solution requires resources/budget beyond current authority; or the risk profile requires higher-level validation.

6. Professional Development, Training & Mentorship

  • Training Oversight. Designs and oversees training programs for OJTs and Staff. Ensures that theoretical knowledge of new hires is effectively translated into practical skills.
  • Developing Leaders. Actively mentors staff to prepare them for leadership roles. Teaches the "why" behind management decisions (logistics, risk, finance) to technical staff.
  • Self-Development. Maintains a high level of technical and managerial competency to remain a credible leader to the technical team.

7. Professional Integrity

  • Models professional integrity. While prioritizing work-life balance for the team, the Supervisor stands ready to manage crises and ensure that the company's word and contracts are honored during emergencies.

Job Specification

Field Detail
Education Licensed Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, ECE) or equivalent technical degree. Advanced degrees or management certifications are a plus.
Experience Proven experience in Engineering with a track record of team leadership, project management, and process documentation.
Hours of Work Six (6) days a week. Expected to manage own time to ensure team coverage. Must be willing to handle escalations during critical project phases.
Working Condition Office-based with travel to sites/plants for supervision and stakeholder management
Tools & Equipment Project Management software, ERP systems, Engineering design tools, and collaborative platforms
